Clifford Leon Payne, born July 5, 1943, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a master plumber since 1976, working in all surrounding counties. Clifford was a member of Laurel Bank Baptist Church. He also was an avid fisherman.
Preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Elsie Payne; grandparents, Joseph and Maggie Wiggins; sister, Joan Herron; brothers, Maynard and Daniel Payne; grandsons, Michael and Mark Payne.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Garland Payne; children, Ricky Payne and wife, Nicole, Sharon Johnson and husband, Chuck, Anthony Payne, and Melissa Payne; grandchildren, Jason and Mindy Payne, Willard and Shannon Payne, and Christopher and Crystal Payne; great-grandchildren, Halie Payne, Caroline Stephenson, Madison and Dixie Payne, Caden and Alexis Payne, Michael Jr. and Hunter Gavin Payne; half-brother, Harvey Payne; best friends, Major Hubbard, Albert Haggie, and Billy Joe Garland; special daughter-in-law, Rhonda Payne; other special friends, Tina and Charlie Parr, Randy and Liz Reagan, and Jenny Cooley. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, whose life was built around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a good friend and loved by all, he will be missed greatly and never forgotten.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Miller Funeral Home, Magnolia Chapel, Dr. Charles Bailey officiating, with the interment to follow at Grandview Cemetery.
