Dickie was a 1965 graduate of Sissonville High School, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, retired from Valley Bell Dairy with 30 years of service, and was a member of Teamsters Local No. 175.
He was an avid bowler, state champion horseshoe pitcher, and antique car enthusiast.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Mose and Wanda Holmes. Survivors include his wife, Teresa Holmes; children, Richard Holmes Jr., Tonya Belcher and husband, Larry, Larry Marion and wife, Crystal, and Nathan Marion and wife, Amanda, all of Sissonville; brothers, Ronald Holmes and wife, Charlotte, of Elkview, Mike Holmes and wife, Sharon, and Timmy Holmes and wife, Tanya, both of Sissonville; grandchildren, Tori and Logan Taylor, Colton and Caden Belcher, Shelby and Hunter Holmes, Callie and Addysen Marion, Chesney and Payton Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 15, at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Legg officiating. Burial followed in Britton Family Cemetery, Kellys Creek, Charleston.
