Sherry J. (Batson) Stephens, born on January 25, 1944 in Orange, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 21, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas. She was a longtime, active member of Shearer Hills Baptist Church. Sherry was a dedicated teacher at Nimitz Middle School in the NEISD for 20 years. She always had a sweet spirit and was an inspiration to all who knew her. Sherry exhibited the spirit of God through her brave and courageous battle with cancer for many years. She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil C. Batson; and son-in-law, Sandy Sanderford. Sherry is survived by her loving husband, Walter P. Stephens; her mother, Rita (Atkins) Batson; daughters, Laurie Sullivan (Chris), Cindy Sanderford and Connie Ray; sons, Matt Stephens (Catherine), Wayne Stiles (Kathy); sister, Sandra Hawkins (Ford); 13 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; 2 nieces; 2 nephews; and a host of friends. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at Odyssey House for the compassionate care they provided.

SERVICES
Visitation will be held on Thursday-August 23, 2007 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday-August 24, 2007 at 11:30AM at Shearer Hills Baptist Church, 12615 San Pedro, San Antonio, TX 78232, with Dr. Dowell Loftis and Rev. Phillip Sitton officiating. Donations may be given in Sherry's memory, to Shearer Hills Baptist Church. You may sign the on-line guest book at www.missionparks.com under the obituary section.
