Alice E. Fiske, 88, of Wyalusing, died Saturday at the home of her daughter
following a long illness, Born in Towanda, Nov. 23, 1906, she was the
daughter of the late James and Mary Browning Lyke. She was a cook in the
cafeteria at the Camptown and Wyalusing elementary schools for 22 years. She
also was a cook at many summer camps throughout Bradford County. She was a
member of the Spring Hill United Methodist Church and the United Methodist
Women, serving as church custodian and caretaker for several years. She was
preceded in death by sisters, Laura Meyers, Erva Wells, Adela Eldred and
son-in-law, Neil Benscoter. Surviving are her son, Louis, Spring Hill;
daughters, Mrs. William (Aileen) Learn, Spring Hill; Mrs. Frank (Marilyn)
Carr, Wilmont; Mrs. Wayne (Patricia), Dushore; Mrs. Janice Benscoter,
Laceyville; half-brother, Perry Babcock, Pompton Lakes, N.J.; brother-in-law
Robert Eldred, Towanda; 22 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday from the Sheldon
Funeral Home, Main Street, Laceyville, with the Rev. Sue Hardman Zimmerman
of the Spring Hill United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be at
the convenience of the family in the Spring Hill Cemetery. There will be no
calling hours. The family will furnish their own flowers. Memorial
donations may be made to the Spring Hill United Methodist Church, RD 1,
Wyalusing, Pa., 18853, or the Northeast Health and Hospice Care, Inc., 38 N.
Main St., Pittston, Pa., 18540-1796.
