Retired nurse, West Alexander Christian Church member

R. Aldene Archer, 91, of Claysville, died Saturday, December 5, 2009, in Washington Hospital, following a brief illness.

She was born August 25, 1918, in West Finley Township, a daughter of Herman and Catherine Bell Roupe Sprowls.

Mrs. Archer was a retired registered nurse.

She was a member of West Alexander Christian Church, Claysville Senior Citizens and the hospice Friendship Club.

Her late husband, Vernon E. Archer, died April 21, 1993.

Surviving are a sister, Dorothy Thompson of Washington; a niece and two nephews; and a sister-in-law, Flossi Archer of Bluefield, W.Va.

At the request of the deceased, services and burial in West Finley Cemetery were private. Arrangements were entrusted to Hummell and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W.
