Peggy Moore Brown, 78, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014, in North Richland Hills, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 5, in Shanks Cemetery near Kirvin with Bro. Steve Cowart officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 4, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague.

Peggy was born in the vanished community of Shanks, Texas, to the late Traynham and Martha Faye Moore. She graduated from Teague High School in 1952, and married James Manley Brown, Sr. on May 27, 1954. Peggy and Manley owned and operated Manley's Supply Company beginning in 1967, and also the Western Auto Associate Store in Teague from 1975 to 1989. Peggy was later known for selling watermelons for her son, Jimmy, at her home. She was well known for her ability to have long conversations with one and all.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Manley Brown, Sr.; a son, James "Jimmy" Manley Brown, Jr.; and a brother, Joe T. Moore.

Survivors include her son, Darrell Brown and his wife, Dana, of North Richland Hills; daughter-in-law, Vicki Brown, of Teague; grandchildren: J.T Brown, of Valley Mills, Cooper Brown, of Teague, Tyler Brown and Kylie Brown, of San Marcos, and Kyndall Brown, of North Richland Hills; sisters, Elna Rose and husband, Bud, of Corsicana, and Donna Lusk and husband, Ronnie, of Lufkin; brother, Dan Moore, of Waco; a life-long friend and classmate, Bonnie Fulcher; and a host of other friends and relatives.
