From the Lewiston Evening Journal, May 14, 1923:
Mrs. Ruth Jones; Prayers and the Relief Corps funeral service were held Monday afternoon for Mrs. Ruth Jones, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Boothby, at 26 Webster St., Lewiston, were she has made her home for the last few years. The body was taken to Mrs. Jones' old home, Fairfield, for burial in the Friend's cemetery, after funeral services in the Friend's church in that town.
Mrs. Jones died Saturday after a long period of ill health. She was born in Fairfield in 1852, the daughter of Elihu and Annie Hoxie. In 1868, she was married to Ariel Jones and always lived in Fairfield, with the exception of three years in Waterville, until the death of her husband, in 1903, when she came to Lewiston to live with her daughter.
She was a charter member of Victor grange, Fairfield, and Burnside Relief Corps, Auburn, and made many friends in Lewiston and Auburn. She was of a retiring, homeloving disposition, but with a kindly and helpful nature that made her loved by all who knew her.
She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Eugene Covell, Hinckley, and Mrs. Charles Boothby, Lewiston; a mother, Mrs. Annie Hoxie, living, at the age of 93, in Fairfield; three brothers, Albert of Dorchester, Mass., Willie of Berlin, N.H. and Eddie living in the home place in Fairfield; a sister, Mrs. Emma Sidelinger, of Raymond, Wash.; four grandsons and one great grandson.
