Ruth Shelton, 66, Crocker, died Oct 7, 1998, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Springfield. She was born Oct. 20, 1931, in Crocker, a daughter of Orville and Martha Madden Boren. She was married July 4, 1948, in Waynesville, to Gene Shelton, who survives at the home.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Hawkeye; Success Chapter 78 Order of the Eastern Star, Richland. She had been employed at Fort Leonard Wood for 33 years, retiring in 1985.

Other survivors include: one son, Bobby Shelton, Camdenton; two daughters, Sharon Kissinger, Poplar Bluff, and Jamie Shelton, Santa Fe, N.M.; one brother, Lee Boren, Crocker; three grandchildren; one step grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Crocker. The Rev. Doug Jacobson will officiate. Burial will be in Hawkeye Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today and 1-2 p.m. Saturday. Memorials are suggested to the Hawkeye Cemetery Fund.
