ABILENE, TX

On Sunday, June 1, 2014 Joy Stephens, 84, our beautiful Mother and Grandmother went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was surrounded by her three daughters at the time of her death. A graveside service will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Buffalo Gap Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Keith Clower of Highland Baptist Church, Sweetwater, directed by Fry~Bartlett Funeral Home, Tuscola. A visitation will be held on Tuesday night from 6 to 8pm at the funeral home.

She was born in Colorado City on March 28, 1930. She married John Wallie Scoggins on April 30, 1950.

Joy lived for her children and grandchildren; they were the love of her life.

Joy is survived by her three daughters, Janie Blackstock and husband M.B. (Zeke) of Cross Plains, Jackie Standard and husband Tom of Austin, Judy Jones and husband Wayne of Fredericksburg, VA; brother Floyd Duke of Cookville; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren with one on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children John Wallie Scoggins; son John Edward Scoggins; mother Martha Evelyn Scott; father C. E. Green; brother James Duke.

Pallbearers for Joy are Zeke and Benji Blackstock, Tom and John Standard, Wayne Jones and Bryan Niedecken.

The daughters wish to thank all of the caring and compassionate nurses and doctors at Abilene Regional Medical Center who so lovingly cared for our mother. Joy's dearly beloved friend Diane and her husband Randy Myers will host a reception at their home for friends and family following the service.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Meals on Wheels, 717 N 10th St, Abilene, TX, US, 7960.
