Janice Marie Hancock, 63, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014. She was born July 27, 1950, in Roanoke, Va. Janice retired from Spring Tree Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her mother, Esther Hancock Burns; brothers, Tony Hancock and William Cosby Burns and nephews, Corey and Meekaeel Hancock. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son, Charlotte and Michael Hancock; a devoted companion, Thomas Quarles (Keys); 10 grandchildren; brother, Charles (Barbara) Hancock; sisters, Patricia Hancock, Carolyn (J.C.) Hardy and Angela Burns-Hickman; aunts, Emma Lee Hancock and Bessie Brower; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014, in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel. Interment will be in Williams Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home. Arrangements by Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home, Roanoke.
