Daniel Brent Ray, 61, went to be with the Lord on June 1, 2014.

Dan was born in Bloomington, Indiana and graduated from Bloomington High School in 1970. He earned his Bachelors degree from Indiana University and his Masters from the University of Southern Illinois. Dan married Susan Doub in 1974 and worked at Stonebelt Center. In 1985, he began working as a vocational rehabilitation counselor for the State of Indiana, a job he kept for 29 years. Dan was also an active member of McDoel Baptist Church, serving as deacon, leading Bible studies, and providing guitar and vocals in the music ministry.

Dan pursued many interests throughout his life, including a love of rock, 60's and Christian music, Universal monster movies, Sherlock Holmes and Star Trek. He was also a gifted guitarist, singer, songwriter and poet.

He was preceded in death by his parents David and Carrie (Highfill) Ray, his brother David and his father-in-law Roy Doub, Jr.

He is survived by his wife Susan (Doub) Ray and his children Aaron and Abigail. He is also survived by his brother James and wife Donna and mother-in-law Martha (Mahan) Doub.
