Flying Officer, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Killed aged 24 while serving with 26 Operational Training Unit when his Wellington bomber crashed between Balding and Bourne in Lincolnshire on a night navigation exercise. Four other crew members also died in the crash (Sgt Clifford Bertram Allen, Radio Op; Flt Sgt Sydney Charles Jessop, Navigator; Sgt Newton Smith, Air Bomber; Sgt Derek Joseph Wright, Air Gunner).
