Daniel served as a Staff Sergeant & Radio Operator on B-24 "Lambsy Divey" #44-40170, 852nd Bomber Squadron, 491st Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Sullivan County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on October 30, 1942 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted as being employed as a Machinist and also as Single, with dependents.

B-24 "Lambsy Divey" #44-40170, while on a bombing mission over Misburg, Germany, was hit by German ground anti-aircraft flak that damaged their No. 2 & No. 3 engines and they crashed near Hannover, Germany during the war. Four parachutes were observed leaving the B-24.

Daniel was "Killed In Action" in this crash.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
