Phebe was the daughter Daniel Cary and Phebe Doty. Phebe's parents were from Massachusetts, settled in the area of Hebron and Norway, and had four children. In 1791 Daniel drowned while trying to cross the outlet of Great Pond in Norway. Shortly thereafter Phebe and her children moved to Wayne, Maine where Phebe's uncle and aunt, Hosea and Hannah Washburn, had settled. In 1794 Phebe's mother remarried to Nathan Billington, and had five additional children.
Phebe married Samuel Norris of Wayne in 1808. The Wayne town history lists five children: "Dadida," Ichabod, Lois Jane, and the twins Thomas and Sawyer, born in 1825. In addition, three children buried in this plot: Samuel, Phebe and Lois.
"Dadida" was a transcription error. The death record of Jedidah (Norris) Packard of Jay. Maine, says she was the daughter of Samuel and Phebe (Cary) Norris.
