Chester "Jiggs" Hendrix, 78, of 327 Raley Ave., Carrollton, died March 17 following a short illness. Born May 20, 1918, at Woodsfield, he was a son of the late Henry J. and Pearl (Moose) Hendrix and had lived most of his life in Jefferson and Carroll counties. He was married November 30, 1946, to Dorotha M. Long, who died September 14, 1992.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Shirley Hendrix of Carrollton; three brothers, James Hendrix of Apple Creek, Kenneth of Scio and William of Carrollton; five sisters, Mrs. Ethel Kohler of New Rumley, Mrs. Lavada Miller of Carrollton, Mrs. Thelma Jean Stevens of Carrollton, Mrs. Iverna Etling of Ashtabula and Mrs. Ada Finnicum of Cadiz; one granddaughter, Mrs. Lorrie Kaltenbaugh; and one great-grandson, Robbi Kaltenbaugh. One grandson, Corrie Hendrix preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Allmon-Dugger & Hively Funeral Home of Carrollton with Rev. Jack Lumley officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery.
