Dwelle was the fifth of nine children born to Warren and Bethia (Turner) Kent. Warren and his brothers were the first settlers of Kent's Hill.
Dwelle was married twice. He married first to Waitstill Wing of Wayne in 1819, and second to Susanna Knight in 1832. He had five children by Waitstill, and three children by Susannah. He resided in Fayette before moving to East Livermore.
The 1858 land ownership map shows "D. Kent" lived about a mile north of Strickland Loop, on the old road that had run along the river.
Of Dwelle's eight children, a son William died young, and a son Amos died unmarried and is in this cemetery. The other six children married and lived in the Boston area.
