Leo Phillips, 97, of Bourbonnais passed away January 24, 2014 at Our Lady of Victory Nursing Home. He was born November 5, 1916 to Harriet (Stewart) and Alva Phillips. Leo married Madeline Blaine July 21, 1940 in Queen City, MO. Leo was the owner of Phillips Press Inc. for 32 years retiring 1979. After his retirement he and his wife worked for Trailer Life Publishing Co. for 20 years. Also after his retirement they both enjoyed special winter trips to the valley in Texas.

Mr. Phillips was a long time member of Central Christian Church, an Elder Emeritus, former Chairman of the church board, former church school teacher, former Secretary of the state for Christian Men's Fellowship, former President of Kiwanis Club where he was the oldest and longest serving member (In 2012 he was made an Lifetime Honorary Member), former Boy Scout Committee, I.0.0. F. Lodge, former member of the Kankakee Elks Lodge, and served on the Salvation Army Board.

Leo is survived by his wife of Bourbonnais, daughters, Sandra Wadley of Bradley, Jan (Dave) Savage of Bloomington, IL, son, William (Mary) Phillips of Fleming Island, FL, grandchildren, Douglas (Kelli) Wadley of Bourbonnais, Amy (Gary) Reiss of Curlew, WA, Laurel (Tom) Kelecius of Lakewood, IL, David (Julie) Phillips of Wake Forest, NC, Tara (Brian) Fleming of Bloomington, IL, great grandchildren, Zachary and Nathan Wadley of Bourbonnais, Spencer, Anna, Emma, Joshua, and Elizabeth Reiss of Curlew, WA, Catherine, Madeleine, Reilly, Reid, Bennett, Griffin, and Tessa of Lakewood, IL, Annabelle Phillips of Wake Forest, NC, and Faith Fleming of Bloomington, IL.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clarence Phillips and Harold Phillips.

A gathering time for family and friends will be Saturday February 1, 2014 from 10a.m. until the 1p.m. celebration of his life funeral service all at Central Christian Church in Bourbonnais IL. The Rev. Robert Bushey, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be private at a later date at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Aroma Township.

In lieu of flowers memorials to Hospice of Kankakee Valley or Central Christian Church would be appreciated.
