Mary Bernice Burningham Thurgood

Mary Bernice Burningham Thurgood, 85, of West Point, Utah passed away peacefully at her home on May 25, 2014.

Bernice was born in West Point, Utah on February 27, 1929 the daughter of the late Ralph and Emiline Louise King Burningham.

Bernice was married to Lawrence O. Thurgood on June 17, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were married for 54 years and had five children.

Bernice lived a long-life full of service and was most happy when surrounded by her family. She was a member of the West Point 5th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She enjoyed collecting dolls and collecting souvenir spoons.

Bernice is survived by one son, Norton (Carleen) Thurgood, Richmond; three daughters, Marilyn Toomer, West Point; Marsha (Vern) Williams, Syracuse; Margo (Randy) Hurst, West Point; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, Carol (Alan) Johnston, Janet (Gary) Workman, sister-in-law, Elaine Burningham, brother-in-law, Blaine (June) Thurgood, many extended family members and friends.

Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Roger B. Thurgood, brother, Wayne Burningham, sister-in-law, Lola Thurgood Hart, brother-in-law, Bill Hart, son-in-law, James Toomer and granddaughter, Nicki Toomer.

Interment, West Point Cemetery.
