AUSTIN -- The funeral for Gladys Estella Rose will be 2 p.m. Friday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel in Austin with the Rev. Andrew M. Lindahl officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin.
Mrs. Rose, 88, of Austin, a homemaker, died Tuesday (May 11, 1999) at her home.
Gladys Estella Torrens was born June 24, 1910, in Oakland, attended a rural Oakland school and Austin High School. On Jan. 1, 1928, she married Everett Richard Rose at the Baptist parsonage in Austin. Mrs. Rose was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and Royal Neighbors for more than 60 years, and enjoyed needlework and flower gardening.
Survivors include four daughters, Norma (Mrs. John) Register and Mary Ann (Mrs. Arvin) Matter, both of Austin, Phyllis (Mrs. Daniel) Crabtree of Brownsdale and Betty Jean Bender of Rochester; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ardith (Mrs. Robert) Olson of Oakland. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, three sisters and two brothers.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and an hour before the service Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Westminster Presbyterian Church, the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
