Jas. Buerkens, died at his home in South Pella, on last Tuesday mornings from a complication of diseases and old ago, being 81 years old at the time of his death.
The deceased is the father of Mr. B. Burkes, of the Pella Manufacturing Co., and has lived in Pella for many years. He was a painter by trade but in late years could not follow his vocation on account of his old age. He was well respected in this community and leaves many dear friends to mourn their loss. The funeral services took place from the Third Reformed church last Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock after which the remains were laid to rest in the City cemetery.

Douwstra in het kerkgebouw der 3de gereformeerde gemeente gehouden, waarna de begrafenis op het oude kerkhof plaats had. Veertig jaren geleden kwam Buerkens met zijne familie naar Amerika.
