Mrs. Amanda Seymour Putnam, 102, 1110 Burton Ave who was born the same year that Ulysses S. Grant was inaugurated 18th president of the United States, died yesterday in a local hospital.
Graveside services for Mrs. Putnam, a resident of Macon most of her life will be held at 3 p.m. today in Macon Memorial Park.
Mrs. Putnam was educated in Bibb County and the the Gordon Institute for Girls. She was the widow of Joel A. Putnam. Mrs. Putnam was born four years after the end of the War Between the States and lived during the leadership of 20 U.S. presidents.
Mrs. Putnam is survived by a daughter, Mrs. J. D. Alley and eight grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Memorial Chapel is in charge.
