Clyde was born in Hurricane Creek and was the son of the late John Thomas and Pearlie Trantham Haynes. He was also preceded in death by a son, Ricky Haynes; four brothers, Carl, Claude, Haskil and Thurman Haynes; and two sisters, Marie Smith and Pauline Kuhn. Clyde enjoyed picking bluegrass music with his friends. When he wasn't playing music, you could find him fishing or hunting. He was a retired carpenter and also helped to build Interstate 40 through the gorge.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bobbie Kirkpatrick Haynes; two daughters, Loretta Haynes of Fines Creek and Melinda Haynes of Maggie Valley; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Keenerville Christian Church Cemetery in the Spring Creek community.
