A Special thank you to my mother-in-law, Erlene Gore, for sponsoring and remembering my dad.Erlene is a wonderful woman with a big heart.

My Dad

Dad was the son of William Wallace and Florence Burgess
from the Pearidge area in Union, SC.
Dads brothers and sisters are Ruby, Walt, Ed, Maggie, Nellie,Annie Mae and Bernice Burgess.

He served his country in the Army during WWII as a Private First Class. He was a tank operator during his service and stationed in Germany.
We heard many of his stories of things he had to see and go through during his time in the service,I remember him telling us about when he was ran over by a German tank, God was with him because he was in a huge mud puddle and was not crushed, only shaken and dirty.

He married my mom, Ruby Dale Green, March 30, 1957.

When he pasted away he left behind my mom and his children Kenneth (Kent) Burgess now from Whitmire, S.C, Peggy B. Patrick,Margie B. Inman and Debbie B. Inman from Union,S.C., Bernice B. Canupp and Jerry Burgess from Lockhart,S.C.and Crystal B. Moody from Rockhill, S.C.

His memory will always be with me and pasted along to others to be remembered as the wonderful dad, husband and son that he was.
He sent pictures home to his family while in service and now I want to share them
Here with all that visit my dads memorial page.
He has one grandson that has pasted away, Michael Canupp ,which was named after him.

To a Great Dad

I miss you dad and I love you so,
These are just things I hope you know.
I never imagined you would not be here,
But, now it has been 14 years.
I looked to you for guidance, assurance and love,
And you gave me all of the above.
No matter how hard times seemed to be,
You always came through to support Kent, Debbie, Peggy,
Margie, Bernice, Crystal and me.
You were a hard worker, a loyal husband and loving dad,
And you served your country with all you had.
Work never kept you from being with us all,
Family, you said, was what made you stand tall.
We are very proud-
For all the things you and mom stood for, we now hold true.
Thank you for all the wonderful memories that we have of you.
