In the 1860 U.S. Census, Peter Stanhope, 42, born Maine, was living in Robbinston, Maine, with Caroline, 41; Aaron, 22; George A., 20; Curtis, 18; Lorenzo, 16; Emeline, 15; Gilbert, 13; Hannah, 11; Peter, 8; Theodore, 6; Betsey A., 3; and Uriah, 1, all born in Maine; and Rodulphus Baisley, 11, born N.B
In the 1850 U.S. Census, 33-yr-old Peter Stanhope of Robbinston, Maine, a farmer whose land was worth $500, had living with him 32-yr-old Caroline, 12-yr-old Aaron, 10-yr-old George, 9-yr-old Curtis, 7-yr-old Lorenzo, 5-yr-old Emeline, 3-yr-old Gilbert (?), 2-yr-old Hannah, baby Betsey. All born in Maine. Aaron, George, Curtis, Lorenzo and Emeline had attended school during the year.
"1850 January 12 I scaled some logs on the pond for Peter Stanhope, John Hume & for Reuben Brooks. The pond is pretty well covered with water. I Bot. 2 yds. Satinette of Nash, c'd. $2.13."
"1850 January 21 I was on the pond this P.M. & scaled logs for Morrell & Stanhope and for Peter & Asahel."
"1847 December 24 The Stanhopes went along past here to the mill with two teams & logs. This is the first hauling to the mill this fall."
"1842 January 14 Wrote & sent a letter to Amaziah Nash by Thos. Brewer who was here this P.M.1842 April 11 [Peter Stanhope & his oxen, & Nathl. Brook[s] & his oxen help Hayden put up a log fence. Stanhope's work was as pay for the survey of] "E. line of lot No. 4 of Nash Land."
"1841 October 26 Went with Peter Stanhope & his father & ran the E. line of Lot No. 4 of the Nash land by beginning at the S. E. C. of the lot. Then N. about 19 [degrees] W. on the old line, til we came to where they had respotted the line by beginning at the N. E. C. They had respotted about 1/3 the length of the lot. I charge Peter with this job $1.50 to be pd. in work."
"1841 October 13 Peter Stanhope & his father helped me dig potatoes in A.M. in part pay for my surveying for them. "
"1841 October 11 Ran the line between lots No. 4 & 5 beginning on the centre line of Town at the c. between the lots thence N. 19 [degrees] W. to the N. c. a [birch or beech] tree. We came onto the old line when about half way through. I kept on it to the c. The old line was about 4 R to the W. of us where we started, having been run too far to the right. Peter Stanhope & his father were with me as they talk of buying lot No. 4 of Nash. I was gone 2/3 of day. They are to help me dig potatoes to pay me for going."
