Major League Baseball Player. He played Major League baseball as a pitcher in parts of 5 seasons. He signed a professional contract with the Philadelphia Phillies out of Shreveport's Louisiana's Byrd High School upon graduation the mid-1950s where he was considered to be one of that states greatest pitching talents. While playing American Legion ball he pitched a no-hitter for the 7-Up Batters team. His Major League debut was on April 2, 1957, with the Phillies. All told he had a 5 Wins and 19 Loss record at the big league level, with a 4.81 ERA with 5 saves in 318.3 innings pitched. After his 13 year pro career was over, he graduated from Baylor University with a degree in business, working for the.Life of Louisiana Insurance Company.for 36 years, retiring in 1999. While pitching for the Milwaukee Braves, he became not only the last pitcher to face Roy Campanella, but also the last pitcher to face the Brooklyn Dodgers before the team moved to Los Angeles. He passed away from a heart attack at the age of 71.
