Mr. Burke was born Feb. 17, 1930, in Elk Mountain, a son of the late William Reed and Helen Mildren (Allen) Burke.
John served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as a teacher in Burns until his retirement. He was a member of the Wyoming Education Association, the National Education Association, the VFW Post No. 1881, and the American Legion Post No. 6.
John is survived by his loving wife, Marion P. (Sinton) Burke of Cheyenne; his daughter, Patricia M. Hartley of Cheyenne; a brother, Henry H. Burke of Billings, Mont.; and five grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara Lawson; and one grandchild, Heather Anderson.
