Edgar Norton, 76, a resident of Liberty, Miss., died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at Field Memorial Hospital, Centreville, Miss., following a sudden illness. He was born May 12, 1935, in Summit, Miss. He was the son of Edward and Velma Roberts Norton. He was retired from the Baton Rouge Fire Department with 30 years of service. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a very active member of Liberty Church of Prayer. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Lindsey Norton; two brothers and a sister. He is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Clarice Arnold Norton, of Liberty; two sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Connie Norton, of Geismar, and Rusty and Cheri Norton, of Sontag, Miss.; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Norton May and Bonny, of Liberty; aunt, Helen Watts, of Summit; four brothers, Ronnie Norton, Charles Norton and Stanley Norton, all of Baton Rouge, and Randy Norton, of Arkansas; five sisters, Mary Helen Smith, of Texas, Dianne Guy and Judy Barkbull, both of Baton Rouge, Sue Tate, of St. Francisville, and Nan Taylor, of Arkansas; grandchildren, Chris Douglas and wife Miriam, Kimberly Douglas Brown, Adam May, Nicholas Norton, Victoria Norton, Jacob Norton, Tiffany Norton, Molly Norton and Brian Norton; great-grandchildren, Hailey Brown, Braden Brown, Hannah Brown, Ian Douglas and Evelyn Douglas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home, McComb, Miss., on Wednesday, Aug. 10, was from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes at Liberty Church of Prayer on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., with the Rev.
