Mrs. Vickie Taylor Hayes, 65, of Adel, Georgia, passed away May 29, 2014 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia. She was born July 18, 1948 in Hahira, Georgia to the late General Jackson Taylor, Jr. and the late Nell McEachern Taylor. She was a lifelong resident of Cook County, a member of First Baptist Church of Adel, and a retired principal of Sumter Elementary School. Mrs. Hayes is survived by her husband, Edward Hayes; a daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Darron Carter; a sister, Linda Cowart, all of Adel; and four grandchildren: Brian Davis of Tifton, Amber Davis of Valdosta, Georgia, MacKenzie Carter and Garrett Carter, both of Adel. She was preceded in death by her brother, General Jackson Taylor, III. The Hayes family will receive friends Friday evening, May 30, 2014 from 6 until 8 pm at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel. The funeral service will be held Saturday May 31, 2014 at 11 am at First Baptist Church of Adel with Rev. Mike Ruffin and Rev. Bill Marlette officiating. Immediately following the funeral service, interment will take place at Woodlawn City Cemetery.
