J. J. Rothschild, City Native, Dies

Joseph J. Rothschild, 81, of 517 Walnut Ave. died yesterday morning at the Jewish Home for the Aged. Born in Syracuse, Mr. Rothschild and his brothers were proprietors of Rothschild Bros. barber shop on E. Fayette Street more than 50 years. He was a member and past member of Philo Lodge 968, F&AM, Central City Consistory; a member of Tigris Shrine and a grand sword bearer of the Grand Lodge of Masons of the State of New York. He is survived by four nephews, Dr. Harold Courtney of Syracuse, Bernard E. Rothschild of Syracuse, Dr. Leonard H. Rothschild of Auburn, and Isadore Goodman of El Paso, Tex. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Birnbaum Funeral Home by Dr. Benjamin Friedman of Temple Society of Concord. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and Masonic services will be conducted by Philo Lodge.
