OWOSSO - Edna L. Arend, age 85, of Owosso, formerly of Buchanan, Michigan passed away Monday, August 26, 2013 at Durand Senior Care Center. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 31, 2013 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Nelson-House Funeral Home in Owosso. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Huntley Memorial Baptist Church in Niles, Michigan with the family receiving friends from 12 p.m. until the time of service. Edna was born October 25, 1927 in Buchanan, Michigan, the daughter of Herman and Henrietta (Koenig) Hattenbach. She married Duane E. Arend on April 27, 1946; he predeceased her in 1986. Edna was a homemaker and spent her life raising and caring for her family and home. She loved Lake Michigan, especially Ludington and looked forward to her morning coffee, reading the Bible and visits to light houses. Edna enjoyed trips and traveling with friends. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Linda Kaup, Carol (Ken) Watson, & Jon (Jill) Arend; 9 grandchildren: Tina Blumka, Jeremy (Kathy) Arend, Brad (Char) Watson, Dan (Mindy) Watson, Rikki (Mike) Jones, Robyn Kaup and Nathan, Olivia and Benjamin Arend; 8 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other loving family. Edna was predeceased by her husband, Duane; son, Tim; son-in-law, Rich Kaup; twin sister, Ina and 5 brothers and sisters. Memorial contributions are suggested to Friends of Ludington State Park.
