From a newspaper article in the "Tyrone Daily Herald", Tyrone, Pa., dated November 9, 1899:

"Clement Ale whose home is in Antis township, met with an accident at Reading Friday last which resulted in death the same evening. Alex Laughlin & Co., of Pittsburg, have a contract for erecting gas heating furnaces for the Reading Iron Company at its pipe mill plant. L.H. Ale, cousin of Clement, has charge of the works, and the latter worked for him. Clement and another man were working in a ditch when the bank caved in and a quantity of earth fell, knocking the head of the unfortunate man against the timbers and fracturing his skull. The funeral will occur from the home of the deceased's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lemuel Ale, near Bellwood, at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon."

Obituary from "Morning Tribune", dated Wednesday, November 11, 1899:

"The funeral of Clement Ale, who met his death so suddenly last Friday, was held at his parents' home yesterday afternoon. A large concourse assembled to pay respect to his memory and express sympathy with the stricken family."
