Charles Sanford, 87, of Brady, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, in Brownwood, Tx.

Visitation was held from 6 – 8 pm, Friday, May 30, 2014, at Heritage Funeral Home in Brady.

Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel in Brady with interment at Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady.

Charles was born to Jorden Washington Sanford and Sarah Mary (Johnson) Sanford, on May 8, 1927, in Atlanta Georgia.

After high school, Charles attended Georgia Tech for one year, then joined the Navy and served a term; after which, on August 10, 1946, he married his high school sweetheart, Sarah Ross, in Georgia. They moved to Brady from Corpus Christi in 1992. Charles was a member of the Brady Community Church.

Charles was very active in AA and was instrumental in providing a building for meetings locally. Charles and Sarah enjoyed helping others and spent time travelling and speaking to AA and Al-Anon groups.

Charles was preceded in death by; his loving wife, Sarah; his parents; one son, Charles Sanford, Jr; and one sister; Geneva Kruger.


Survivors include his beloved companion, Gloria Boysdon of Brady; two daughters; Mary Copeland, and husband Mark, of Brady and Vicki Anders, and husband, Gary, of Winter Park, Fl; one sister; Christine Peek of Mt. Dora, Fl; one brother; Jordan Wesley Sanford of Douglasville, Ga; one niece, three nephews; 7 grandchildren, including; Michelle Rollins, Machael Walker, Justin, Michael, and Sara Walk, Aaron, and Evan Sanford; three great-grandchildren, including; Nevaeh and Mason Walk, and Avery Sanford.

Memorials are requested to the American Lung Association.
