JEROME • Jo Rene Fife Lee, 85, of Jerome, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, in Twin Falls.

She was born Jan. 29, 1929, in Preston, Idaho, to Glen and Vera Fife. The family settled on a farm northwest of Filer in 1938, where they were instrumental in establishing the Filer Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jo Rene attended Cedar Draw School through the eighth grade and then Filer High School, where she met her future husband, Allen Lee. They were married Nov. 6, 1949. Their marriage was later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Four children were born to their union, Karla (Terry) Hall of Jerome, Kim (Jami) Lee of Twin Falls, Kent (Nancy) Lee of Jerome and Keri (Michael) Kinzel of Boise. Jo Rene is survived by two brothers and one sister, Max (Ruth) Fife of Rupert, Barbara (Don) Hazard of Draper, Utah, and Dennis (Janalyn) Fife of Idaho Falls. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dallas; and her grandson, Chase.

Jo Rene was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life, having served as Relief Society secretary, councilor in the Relief Society presidency, councilor in the Primary and Primary president along with many teaching assignments and as Relief Society pianist.

Jo Rene assisted her husband in the television sales and service business in the 1950s. Later, when they purchased KART Radio in Jerome, she worked for several years as the receptionist and bookkeeper. Jo Rene was a stalwart in her religion, unselfish with her possessions and meticulous with her yard. Her presence was inspiring and will be sorely missed.

A visitation will be held Sunday evening, June 1, in the Jerome LDS 3rd Ward Chapel, 825 E. Ave. B in Jerome, where family and friends may call from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, June 2, also at the Jerome LDS 3rd Ward Chapel, with Bishop Gary Radford officiating. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Jerome Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome.
