The tombstone for Silas and Mary (Blodgett) Hawks also includes inscriptions for several children who are presumably buried in the same plot.

One of the inscriptions is "LHJ Died March 30, 1832 Age 35". Silas and Mary did have a daughter named Lucy. It's speculated that LHJ may be this daughter Lucy.

A Lucy Hawks married a Daniel Jucket in December 1820 in Deerfield, Massachusetts. LHJ could be Lucy Hawks Jucket. If you're able to help confirm the identity of LHJ, please email [email protected].

A Daniel Juckket appears in Franklin, Massachusetts in the 1830 US Federal census. The household includes a white female (30-39 years old) and five children: four boys all under 10 years old, and one girl under 5 years old.

Records that have been found for children born to a Daniel and Lucy Jucket (also spelled Juckett and Jockett) include: Alonzo Daniel Jockett (1821-1864) and Edmund Blodget Jucket (1825-1879).

Another possible son includes George Henry Hawks. There remains a mystery about George's parents and ancestry. Was he born a Jucket or a Hawks? Family lore says he was born with the surname Jucket, his parents died when he was very young, and he was subsequently raised by an aunt with the surname Hawks. The tombstone for Silas and Mary Hawks mentions a daughter, also Mary Hawks (FAG #93250995), who lived until 1880. Another family story indicates the aunt in question may have been Emily Amelia. Could one of them be the caretaker aunt?

No birth record or corroborating evidence (family bible, probate records, etc.) has been found to-date for George Henry Hawks. Can you help answer the mystery? Email [email protected]
