Irene Evelyn Stevens, 85, New Smyrna Beach, a retail merchandise sales manager before her retirement, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Halifax Health Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

Mrs. Stevens was born in Perry, New York and moved to the local area twelve years ago from Alma, Georgia. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, New Smyrna Beach and loved gardening, water coloring and spending time with her family, friends and extended church family.

She is survived by five sons, Rob (Linda), James (Colleen) and Charles (Gina) Stevens, all of Jacksonville, Richard (Karen) Stevens of Alma, Georgia and John (Susan) Chaffee of Port St. Lucie; three daughters, Irene Moses of Dunnellon, Melody Stevens of Edgewater and Monette (Don Midland) Bochiardy, of New Smyrna Beach; one brother, Walter Chaffee of Florida; one sister, Mildred Annis of West Virginia; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Belton McManus Stevens, son, Michael Belton Stevens, daughter, Iris Sullivan and brother, Gordon Chaffee.

Graveside funeral service will be 11 AM Monday, June 2, 2014 in Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery, Edgewater with Rev. John Hay, Pastor, First Church of the Nazarene, officiating.
