She was born in Adairsville, GA, January 4, 1949, daughter of the late William Fred Frix, Sr. and Mamie Allene Howell Frix. Mrs. Lewis was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church and part of the Women Missionary Union. She had retired from the Bartow County School System where she had been the secretary to the superintendent. Mrs. Lewis enjoyed traveling, cross-stitching, and putting puzzles together. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James Tony Frix.
Survivors include her husband of forty-two years, Bill Lewis of Adairsville; siblings, William Fred and Winnie Frix, Jr. of Rome, Daisy and Wendell Gilreath of Dawsonville, John H. Frix of Calhoun, Sara and Rev. Larry Hogan of Plainview Community, Rev. Robert "Loy" and Gloria Frix of Adairsville; 2 godchildren, Brittany Bristol of Euharlee and Brandon Bristol of Calhoun; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at 4:00 PM at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Adairsville with Rev. Greg Free and Rev. Larry Hibberts officiating. Interment will follow in Union Grove Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Nephews will serve as Pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research in memory of Iva Nell Lewis. Donations can be mailed to 1825 Barrett Lakes Blvd., Suite 280, Kennesaw, Georgia 30144.
