Obituary
Died, at his home in Dexter, May 21st, 1894, Robert C. Nicholson, aged 78 years, 5 months and 4 days. Uncle Bob, as he was commonly called, was a great sufferer but enduring the same with great patience, being perfectly resigned to his lot and simply waited for the change to come which would have been rest to him from his sufferings. His funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.A. Irons, pastor of the M.E. church, who preached his sermon from Eccl. 9:h, 9:h. Chpt. 5th, verse, "For the living know that they shall die."

Uncle Robert was born in Garnette county, Kentucky, December 17th, 1815. He was married to Elizabeth Berry, May 5th, 1838. This couple lived together 55 years, 1 month and 29 days. They were blessed with eight children, two sons and six daughters. Samuel Nicholson, the elder son, aged 54 years, residing in Winfield, Kansas; James, 51 years old, residing in Oklahoma; next three, Mary S., Eliza Jane and Elizabeth W. Pattison, having already gone to await the coming of the father; Salley E. Bryan, aged 45 years, residing in Dexter; Mattie E. Waters, aged 43 years, residing in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Lucy A. Elliott, 41 years old, living near Dexter.

Uncle Robert lived out his allotted time by the reason of strength. He was a man of no bad habits, a good citizen, a faithful husband and loving father. He was without enemies, and in fact all who knew him, loved him and respected him. He joined the Presbyterian church when but a young man, living a faithful member and consistent Christian unto the end.

His friends and neighbors were faithful during his sickness in administering to his wants for which the relatives greatly appreciated, and desire to thank for the same. Also thanking the ladies who contributed the beautiful flowers. - EXETER.
