Cameron - The funeral for Mary Elizabeth Rickenbaker Evans, 82, of Cameron, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at Four Holes Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Walker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Evans died Saturday, May 3 at her residence. Pallbearers will be Ernest Evans, Jack Evans, Nick Rickenbaker Jr., Frank Williams, Buddy Avinger and Tom Best. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Adult V Sunday School Class. Mrs. Evans was born in Cameron, a daughter of the late Fred Rickenbaker and Maybelle Avinger Rickenbaker. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and formerly taught in the Aiken Public Schools. She was a member of Four Holes Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and former deacon. She was the widow of James H. Evans. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Wayne R. (Gayle) Courtney, Summerville, Mrs. Rebecca Ensley, Fayetteville, N.C. and Mrs. Patrick (Kate) Lewis , Charlotte, N.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, J. Heyward (Lynne) Evans Jr., Athens, Ga.; a brother, N. E. 'Nick' Rickenbaker Sr., Newnan, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Scott (Ashley) Courtney, Summerville, Erin Courtney, Pendleton, Stuart Courtney, Summerville, Adrienne and Carly Evans, Athens, Ga., and Lindsey and Karson Lewis of Charlotte, N.C. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home of Orangeburg.
