Debbie was born on February 5, 1973 in Independence to parents Dean and Duranda (Mellinger) Hansen. She graduated from Oelwein High School in 1991. She then attended Kirkwood Community College, graduating with her RN degree. Debbie had been employed with the Mental Health Institute in Independence, Grandview Nursing Home in Oelwein, Heritage Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids and REM in Cedar Rapids.

Debbie was always a "giver" who loved animals and was always available to help others. Debbie gave as generously in death, as she did in life by being a donor through the Iowa Donor Network. She will be dearly missed by all who knew, and continue to love her.

Left to celebrate Debbie's life are her parents; her sisters: DeAnn (Fritz) Michels of Hazleton, Amy (Dave Wade) Feehrer of Waterloo, Heather (Paul Schultz) Hansen of Hazleton, Jeni Lynch of Waterloo and Heidi (Justin) Smock of Evansdale; her brothers: Thomas (Kara) Hansen of Longmont, CO and Michael Hansen of Des Moines; her fiancé Don Mundt of Oelwein; her many nieces, nephews and friends.

Debbie was preceded in death by her grandparents and her sisters: Sherry Hansen and Kari Posekany.
