Army National Guard 243rd Engineer Company, Baltimore, MD
He suffered injuries while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom in Ramadi, Iraq, on December 24, 2006, during a successful attempt to save the life of two of his fellow comrades involved in a roadside bombing. He died as a result of those injuries at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. In addition to being in the National Guard, he had been a career firefighter and paramedic at the Salisbury Fire Department, Salisbury, MD. He was posthumously awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart, and the International Association of Fire Fighters' Medal of Honor.
He was survived by his parents; his sister; his brother; his fiancee; and several aunts and uncles.
Visitation was held at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church on Wednesday and Thursday, January 18-19, 2006. A Memorial and funeral service was held at the church on Thursday, January 19, 2006. Interment on Friday, January 20, 2006.
