Robert served as a Sergeant, 2nd Battalion, 197th Coast Artillery, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Sullivan County, New Hampshire and was a member of the New Hampshire National Guard prior to the war.

His National Guard unit was called into full time active Army service on September 16, 1940, prior to the war, from Newport, New Hampshire. He was noted, at that time, as being employed as a Hotel and/or restaurant manager and also as Married.

Robert died in the "Line Of Duty" of a non-battle related incident during the war.
