Harvey Franklin Rogers, 81, of Rome passed away Monday at a Rome nursing facility after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Rogers was born in Floyd County on June 7, 1932, son of the late Austin and Mattie Hardin Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Hendricks; his second wife, Betty Rogers; a sister, Nellie Rogers, and two brothers Marvin L. and Robert V. Rogers. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Rogers was graduated from Coosa High School. He was employed by Old Dominion Box Company for many years . Prior to retirement he was employed by Mohawk Industries on Lavender Drive in Rome.
Survivors include his wife, Fran C. Rogers, to whom he was married May 6, 2007; Sister-in-law, Martha Lee Rogers; nieces and nephews, Elaine Pledger, Shirley Hester, Peggy Culberson, Fred Rogers. Steve and Wayne Rogers; Selena, Sala, and Robbie Rogers; step-children, Gail Teasley, Gina Semczuk, and Greg Muncer. Other great nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren and great grand children also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Rogers will be Friday at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Interment will be at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Mr. Rogers will lie in state at Good Shepherd where the family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 P.M.
Floral contributions will be accepted; however, memorial contributions may be made to Shorter Avenue Baptist Church, 1410 Shorter Avenue, Rome, GA 30165.
