During World War II, Mrs. Harpster worked at Western Electric in Syracuse.
During the 1950s and early 1960s, she lived in the Town of Tonawanda and taught elementary school at Big Tree School in Hamburg, in the Sweet Home School District and in North Tonawanda. She also assisted disabled children in the Buffalo area as part of the BOCES program.
She moved to Sudbury, Mass., in the late 1960s, then in 1970 returned to the Town of Tonawanda. In 2000, she moved to Columbus, Ohio to be closer to family.
Mrs. Harpster was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Church of the Nativity in the Town of Tonawanda and the American Association of University Women.
She died in Columbus, Ohio July 7th, 2006. She was 90 years old.
Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Warren T.; two sons, Warren W. and Allen P.; and a daughter, Ellen A, as well as 5 grandchildren.
