Mrs. Carrie E. Blankenship, 83, of Swiss, Nicholas County, the half sister of Mrs. Wanda Armstead of Ripley, died Sunday at home after a short illness.

She was a member of the House of Prayer, Swiss.

Other survivors: sons, William H. and Woodrow Blankenship, both of Swiss; daughters, Ruth Acord, Florence Tucker and Ester Acord, all of Swiss, Martha McAtee of Brownsville, Dolly Thomas of Fayetteville; half brothers, Philip Huffman of Elkview, Billy Paul Huffman, address unknown; stepbrothers, Mark Harper of Clendenin, Basil Harper of Princeton, La.; half sisters, Myrtle Armstead of Gassaway, Gladys Lilly of Charleston, Helen Lilly of Sissonville, Dovie Holbert of Pinch; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren.

Service was Tuesday at Combs-Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge with the Rev. Charles Blankenship and the Rev. Tommy Butler officiating. Burial was in Simms Cemetery, Swiss.
