Randy P. Wood, 48, of Greeley passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at the Greeley Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Sidney B. Bruggeman will officiate. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. T.J. Finn and Sons Funeral Home of Greeley is in charge of arrangements.
Randy Paul Wood was born November 17, 1965, at St. Paul, Nebraska to Orren W. Jr. and Catherine A. "Catsy" (O'Neill) Wood. He spent his early years on the family farm west of Greeley. The family moved into Greeley when Randy was 4. He attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Greeley High School in 1984.
Randy began his construction career with Mogensen Construction. He then worked for Greeley Gas and Electric and the Village of Greeley. For the past five years he has owned and operated RMW Construction.
Randy was united in marriage to Michelle Harris on September 14, 1991, at Greeley, Nebraska. To this union a daughter, Ragan was born. The family made their home in Greeley.
Randy was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Parish Council; and Knights of Columbus. He served on the Village Board, Central Valley Schools Building Project and Service Club. He volunteered in various organizations including the Greeley Fire and Rescue Squad, Greeley Irish Festival, Wood Deer Camp, Greeley Rodeo and 4-H. Randy was an avid sports fan and Nebraska Husker Fan. He enjoyed coaching girls softball, golfing on Ord Men's League, hunting, playing softball, fantasy football and organizing the "thirty pool". His favorite pastime was spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle of Greeley; a daughter, Ragan of Greeley; his father, Orren W. Wood of Greeley; ten brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Janet of Greeley, Bob and Tammy of Greeley ,P.J. and Theresa of St. Paul, Rick and Kelli of Greeley, Terry and Mary Jo of Greeley, Tim and Renee of St. Paul, Jeff and Sherri of Greeley, Jason and Lisa of Grand Island, Dan and Stacy of Hawaii, and John Paul and Mandi of Gretna; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Deb (Mrs. Dennis) Obermiller of Loup City, Linda and Al Nielsen of Greeley, Susie and Bob Lammers of Greeley, Lisa Wood of Greeley, Cheryl and Paul Harding of Grand Island and Sharon Wood and her friend, Les Millspaugh of Grand Island; a sister-in-law, Lisa Wood of Papillion; father-in-law, Smokey Nordhues of Greeley, mother-in-law, Barbara Severance of Ord; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine; a brother, Ronnie Wood and a brother-in-law, Dennis Obermiller.
