Memorial services celebrating his life will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at the Parsonage of the Glacier View Baptist Church in Homer.

The first of four children, Mr. Breckenridge was born in Missouri in 1940. Soon after the United States entry into World War II, his parents moved to Richmond, Calif., where his father worked in the Kaiser Shipyards.

After the war, the young family moved south, settling in Anaheim, Calif., where he attended public schools. Soon after high school, he took an entry-level job at the General Motors Delco Battery Plant in Anaheim, working his way up in a series of assignments of increasing scope and responsibility until his retirement in 1989.
He came to Alaska with his wife, Pam, in 1994, and settled in Homer, a place he called paradise. When asked to summarize his view of life, he responded with six words, "Life is good; life is precious."
