Obituary - James E. Gassman,, 77, passed away Monday April, 24, 2017 with his daughters by his side in Bay City. He was born June 14, 1939 to Floyd and Myrtle Reeves Gassman. James was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1960 to 1971. He loved his family and was strong spirited. He was a great carpenter and enjoyed working with wood, he also loved gardening and canning. He is survived by his daughters; Jamie (Russ) Sharon of Bay City, Julie Brewster of Bay City, Catheryn (James) Ballard of Bay City and Heather(Dave)Vliet of Barton City. 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also survives is sister Bernice Lesniak and a brother Wesley Gassman. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Ethel, Loraine and Jean, brothers; Earl, Ralph and Wayne, son in law Gene Brewster and life partner of 35 years Agnes Rood. Cremation arrangments were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.

He is survived by his 4 daughters Jamie (Russ) Sharon, Julie Brewster, Heather (Dave) Vliet and Catheryn (James) Ballard. 14 grandchildren Shanon, Michael, Jeanna, Matthew, Brooke, Dianna, Brittney, Meranda, Dean, Austin, Anthony, Breanne, Julie and Sarina. 11 Great Grandchildern Bentley, Savannah, Kaelynn, Alexis, Brook-Lyne, Michaela, Dakota, Maliyan, Ryan, Liberty and Novalee.

He is also survived by 2 of his 8 siblings Bernice and Wesley and sister-in-law Deli. He is preceded by his parents Floyd and Myrtle (Kibbe) Gassman, brothers Earl, Ralph, Wayne and sisters Ethel, Loraine and Jean his grandson Mason Vliet, son-in-law Gene Brewster his ex-wife Janice Mosher, his long time love Patricia Arsneau and his significant other Agnes Plant.

He has donated his body to The University Of Michigan.
