Ed was born on October 24, 1925, in Lakota, Iowa, to Arthur E. Anderson and Bertha (Ellman) Anderson. When Ed was 10 years old, his family moved to Swea City where he grew up. He was a graduate of Swea City High School. Ed was an army veteran of World War II, serving as Staff Sergeant and Tank Commander from 1944 until he was honorably discharged in 1946. He was united in marriage to Betty E. (Jorgensen) Anderson on December 10, 1953, in Faimont, MN, and they made their home in Swea City. From there, they moved to Sioux Falls, SD and Bloomington, IL until 1976, when Ed and Betty moved to Clive, IA until 1976 when Ed and Betty moved to Clive. Edward was employed with Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Co. for more than 30 years, retiring in 1989. Farmers Mutual was like a second family to Ed and Betty. He loved traveling with his Betty and looked forward to having coffee every morning with his buddies at Dahl's. His great-niece, Tatum and great-nephews, Jack and Gabe brought him great joy and Ed loved spending time with them and attending their events. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his brother, Robert (Marlynn) Anderson of Spirit Lake, IA; two nephews, Ward (Kim) Jorgensen of Grimes, IA and Ron (Shari) Anderson of Swea City; and a host of extended family members. Ed was preceded into eternal life by his parents; wife, Betty E. Anderson; two sisters, Elizabeth and one other at infancy; and one brother, Albert.
