Mary "Maggie" Nidiffer, 80, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the home of her daughter, following a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late William C. and Jenny Bowers and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Shannon Bowers; a son, O'Dell Bowers; a sister, Ella Buckles and a brother, Leonard Bowers.

Maggie loved her church, Hunter First Baptist, where she was a member for over forty years. She also loved music and enjoyed spending time with friends. She was a homemaker who dedicated her whole life to her kids and grandkids. She loved animals, especially her cat, Lily, who brought so much laughter at such a sad time.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Danny Holsclaw, Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Heather Vermillion, FL; Rebecca Holsclaw, of the home; three sisters, Pauline Taylor, Oma Jean Woods and her husband, Bob; and Pansy Rouse and her husband, Bob; all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mrs. Nidiffer will be conducted on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 7:00 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton with Rev. Steve Nauman officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday prior to the service, or at the home of her daughter, Teresa Holsclaw.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 11:00 AM in Caldwell Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Todd Whitaker, Dr. Andrew Hill, Dr. Michael Hodge, and Dr. Robert Enck. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 AM on Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.

The family would like to express appreciation to several people and organizations; to Mountain States hospice for their support and caring during this difficult time. Her special son-in-law, Danny Holsclaw, made her final days more pleasant with the love and support he showed her. She loved him as her own. Nick and Joyce Mentel made mom's last days more comfortable with the love and support they gave to her.
