Richard Gene Matheny, 73, went to be with his Lord on May 27, 2014 at the University of Pittsburg Medical Center, in Pittsburg, Pa.

He was born February 2, 1941, in Vienna, W.Va, the son of the late Delbert and Fannie Fetty Matheny.

Richard served in the US. Army from 1959-1962 and was stationed in Germany and White Sands, Mexico with the missile dept. He owned D & M Masonry and was employed at Corning Glass as a hot brick laborer and an outside contractor salesman for Lowes and Cox Lumber. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janet Nutter Matheny; son, Rick Matheny; daughter, Janie Matheny Duckworth; granddaughters, Emily, Caitlin and Sydney Duckworth; sister, Ida Blair all of Vienna and Gary Matheny of California. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Sam Matheny of Vienna and his sister, Wanda Stephens of Boaz.

Funeral services for Richard will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna with Pastor Gilbert Neely officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery, Parkersburg.
